Homeownership Program

Services

Our goal at Habitat is to provide a safe, affordable place for everyone to live! That is where our homeownership program comes in! This program provides a way for a Habitat homeowner to purchase a home with 0% down and 0% interest. Basic qualifications for the homeownership program are that you do not currently own a home, you have good credit (or are willing to work towards better credit), that you are not in active bankruptcy, and that you are willing to live in Dougherty or Lee County. We also follow HUD income guidelines based on the number of people in your household.

Thanks to several individuals and businesses in our community (including Wells Fargo), Flint River Habitat is able to have a Veteran Homeownership Program! This program is similar to our regular homeownership program, in that it provides a way for a Habitat homeowner to purchase a home with 0% down and 0% interest. Basic qualifications for the homeownership program are that you do not currently own a home, you have good credit (or are willing to work towards better credit), that you are not in active bankruptcy, and that you are willing to live in Dougherty or Lee County. We also follow HUD income guidelines based on the number of people in your household.
The only difference between the two programs is that with the Veteran Homeownership Program, we will simply need a copy of your DD214 and proof of honorable discharge. Also, this particular home will be in Lee County.

Veteran Repair Program

Veteran Homeownership Program

Thanks to The Home Depot Foundation, we are able to provide a Veteran Repair Program every year. The Home Depot Grant allows us to repair a certain number of Veterans' homes each year. Typical repairs include (SAFETY) roof, steps, door, siding, lighting, electric, (WARMTH) furnace, weatherization, hot water heater, and (INDEPENDENCE) accessibilty features, ramps, accessible kitchen, and accessible bathroom.
Like our Homeownership Program, this program requires income based on HUD standards. The Veteran Repair Program also requires a DD214, proof of honorable discharge, and proof of homeowner's insurance.
